There is a big advantage with Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) when compared with Install Shield. Oracle new java based OUI can uninstall Siebel patches installed on top of 8.1.1.x. It can be either Full Installation i.e Base version + Fix Pack or only Fix Pack , by selecting a choice it can be removed completely.
Verification of a Patch: Go to installation root directory, then change directory to Opatch. And type
opatch lsinventory, it shows following screen with base version details and patch update details. If patch is successful then it shows "opatch succeeded."
Uninstalling the Patch: If Patch is not successful then patch can be removed from the installation by keeping the base as it is. It gives three options. 1. Uninstall Fix Pack 2. Complete Uninstall. 3. Exit.
